Winter Prestwold Hall Wedding Photography by Ian Bursill

A Prestwold Hall winter wedding.

You just know it’s going to be a great winter Prestwold Hall wedding. A relaxed morning, the calmest bridesmaid, an emotive ceremony and a great ceilidh band to provide the perfect end to a perfect day!

You get an enquiry from a couple who have seen your work. They want to meet.

“Problem is, we have a little baby and it’s going to be difficult to get over to see you Ian.”

“Well, you’re only 15 minutes away, I’ll pop over to see you.”

“Great!”.

I knock at the door, and I’m met by Lee with the warmest handshake and friendliest greeting. Sara is no different, we all hit it off immediately. Chatting and laughing over a mug of hot tea.

Photography is like that, it’s like life, personalities gel, sometimes they don’t. Both the photographer and the subjects need to get on to get the best results out of their day. I left the meeting that evening really looking forward to my last wedding of the 2014 season, and boy – it didn’t disappoint!

The morning of the wedding was very laid back (all of my couples are to be fair) and I was made to feel most welcome by all. I was even invited (along with my family) to go and holiday in Ireland at Sara’s aunts. I may yet take her up on that offer (if you’re reading this aunt!).

Sara’s chief bridesmaid has to go down in my book as one of the coolest, calmest bridesmaids I’ve ever witnessed. Lee & Sara don’t mention this as a tip, but I will – make sure you have a cool, calm & collected bridesmaid to help when all around is chaotic.

Lee & Sara talk a little about their day below for us… enjoy!

The venue and why we chose it.

“We got married at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough. The hall was perfect for what we wanted, we loved the character of the place and how the rooms flowed with the day. In addition to this, the food is fab.”

Our wedding theme.

“Traditional, we both wanted something that was classic and timeless that wouldn’t date on photographs.”

Our photographer.

“We got in touch with Ian after seeing his images at Prestwold Hall and booked him because of his unobtrusive photography style, clever photos and the fact that we really got on with him.

When we first saw the images, the emotions of the day came flooding back to us, we cried and laughed through them all!

We’d absolutely recommend him to anyone planning their big day who wants their wedding documented in a relaxed, unobtrusive way.”

Do you have any advice for couples planning their own weddings?

“Relax, it will all work out on the day!”

Other suppliers we used.

“We used Claire Budding from Budding Floral Designs for our flowers and we love her. She was amazing from start to finish.

For the suit hire, we luckily stumbled across Suit Yourself, in Leicester city centre. They have an extensive knowledge of tailoring and run an extremely professional service. In addition to this, they have all the suit sizes within the shop, unlike other suit providers we tried. We would highly recommend Suit Yourself for any husbands to be.

Our pianist Rajen Nagar played from the start of the ceremony to our first dance. He is a very talented pianist who we would highly recommend.

To finish the celebrations we hired a ceilidh band called Malarkey. Instead of having everyone sitting at their tables, everyone was on their feet dancing. It was fab. We really wanted our guests to get involved with the day and Malarkey achieved this.”
