The church of St.Peter’s in East Bridgford, Nottinghamshire was the venue for the wedding of Jonathan & Suzanne. It’s always a little disappointing for both my couples and myself when the church doesn’t allow any photography during the service, as the most important part of the day is surely the service itself. To be fair, the vicar did tell me that she had had bad experiences with obtrusive photographers in the past and it saddens me that these kind of photographers give our industry a bad name and spoil it for unobtrusive and thoughtful photographers with a considered approach like myself. She did offer the chance of re-acting the ceremony afterwards for the camera but to a documentary photographer who relies purely on real moments that was not really an option. So I sat quietly at the back of the church and managed to pick off just six shots with a long lens and through carefully timed clicks of the shutter which coincided with noise from children playing in a play area to my side. Jon & Suzanne were delighted to hear that I’d managed to grab even just a handful of frames.
The reception was held at contemporary Nottinghamshire wedding venue The Old Vicarage Southwell – near the famous Southwell Minster – which has undergone a major redevelopment and refurbishment programme over the last 2 years. Taking comfort and personal service to new heights, the hotel offers pure guest luxury through uniquely styled accommodation in 8 individually designed bedrooms and suites featuring an eclectic mix of New York loft meets vintage chic. Flowers were by Bingham Nottinghamshire Florist Zinnia Florists and the evening’s entertainment was provided by talented Nottingham musician, songwriter, lyricist and all-round great bloke Jason Hart, well recommended to get a wedding party going!
