Club anniversary books and season albums

Centenaries, promotions, tours and season reviews, printed for members as UK made soft back books. Committee-friendly quotes, member pre-orders, and pricing that works at a hundred copies rather than four.

Club anniversary books and season albums

Quoted from one copy upwards

An A4 Landscape, 100-page copy is £230 for one, £827 for a hundred, £2,910 for five hundred, so the committee can choose with real numbers in front of it.

UK made soft back

Ten sizes, PUR perfect-bound, 36 to 364 pages, and runs up to three thousand in A4 or A5.

Sponsor and advertising pages

Set into the book properly where sponsorship is funding the print.

Clubs are the best-documented organisations in the country and the worst at keeping any of it. A hundred years of fixtures, tours, teams and committee photographs sit in a cupboard at the ground, and every few decades somebody threatens to sort them out.

A book is how that archive survives, and an anniversary is the reason a committee will finally fund one. I design, proof and print it, and I am used to working with volunteers, minutes and a season that will not wait.

Anniversary and centenary books

The archive plus the present day: founding documents, team photographs by decade, the trophy years, the ground as it changed, and the people who kept it going. Where material is damaged, faded or stuck into old self-adhesive albums, restoration happens first and is quoted separately.

Written history and match reports can be typeset alongside the photographs. If a member is writing the text, send it as it stands and I will lay it out and query anything that reads oddly.

Season reviews and tours

A season review needs to be printed while it still matters, so the schedule works backwards from your presentation night or AGM. Tours, promotions and cup runs make good short books, and the soft back edition keeps the per-copy price low enough that members will actually buy one.

How committees usually run it

Almost every club book I print is a soft back. It is made in the UK on an HP Indigo press, PUR perfect-bound so the pages stay flexible rather than cracking after a season on the clubhouse table, and it runs from 36 to 364 pages. It is the only format where the numbers work at member prices, and it prints from one copy up to three thousand in A4 or A5, or two thousand in the other sizes. A4 landscape is the usual choice for a season review, though it comes in ten sizes, portrait or landscape.

I quote at two or three quantities so the committee can decide with real figures in front of it. For club and association books, larger print runs can bring the cost per copy down considerably. As an example, an A4 Landscape Soft Back Book with 100 pages costs £230 for one copy, £827 for 100 copies and £2,910 for 500 copies. Other sizes, page counts and paper options are available. A single design fee is spread across the run, which is why a hundred copies costs far less per book than four. Sponsor pages and advertising can be set into the book where that is how the print is being funded.

Hardback versions of the same book are not something I can offer at the moment. My UK printer has them under review and I am pressing for it; for now a presentation copy for the club or the president is better ordered as one of the Italian albums below.
