WPJA "UK Wedding Photojournalist of the Year" 2009

I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Loughborough, Leicestershire and a fully active member of the international organisation the WPJA - The Wedding Photojournalist Association. I am also a member of the ISPWP - International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers.

I am the current WPJA "UK Wedding Photojournalist of the Year" 2009 and also finished third in the worldwide WPJA "Wedding Photographer of the Year 2009" competition. No other UK photographer has ever finished in the top 3 before.

I shoot weddings in a documentary style with no intervention or intrusion (apart from a few formals if requested) enabling my clients and their guests to get on enjoy their day without worrying about the photography taking over.

I shoot digitally, working with professional Nikon D3 cameras and lenses. 99% of my images are captured without the use of a flash, preferring to utilise the beauty of natural light. This also enables me to remain very unobtrusive at weddings.

Alison and David’s East Leake, Leicestershire Wedding

A beautifully sunny day for the wedding of Alison & David at St. Mary’s Church in East Leake, Leicestershire. After the service, the reception was held in a marquee at the home of the bride’s parents. Flowers on the day were provided by The Flower Shop of East Leake, catering by The Fiona Herbert Catering Company Ltd, and the great indie covers band from Loughborough called Indio Black provided a lively end to the day’s celebrations with a storming set to get everyone up on to the dance floor.

Adam and Astrid – Sutton Bonington Hall, Leicestershire

It was back again to top Leicestershire wedding venue Sutton Bonington Hall for the wedding of Adam & Astrid. A few pics from the day follow to narrate the day. If you are wondering about the log cutting image, that is a German tradition called “Das Sägen”. After the ceremony, the bride and groom face their first challenge as a couple. They must saw through a heavy log on two sawhorses, with a whipsaw. This requires their working together, as the saw only cuts when pulled in either direction. It symbolises the couple’s ability to solve problems together.

First Place in WPJA Q4 Contest!

Had a major distraction this evening while working hard on designing a sample album layout… the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) Q4 results came through and I’ve managed to get my first ever 1st place! As you would expect, I’m well chuffed and completely over the moon and I’ll be celebrating this weekend! Winning image is below…
