Beaumanor Hall, Leicestershire – Damion & Philippa

An intimate and emotive September wedding at local Beaumanor Hall in Woodhouse, Leicestershire. Getting a little nip on the finger from the mother Jack Russell (left hand of pic) during bridal prep at the guesthouse where Phillipa was getting ready had no detrimental effect on my ability to document their day – one tip though, never try to stroke a yapping Jack Russell, no matter how friendly they look!

Bridal prep was made all the more enjoyable due to the wonderful company of Phillipa, her sister and two daughters, and make up artist Rochelle O’Brien and hair stylist Melanie Rhodes who I have worked with before on several occasions. It was great to team up with them again as they really are extremely talented at what they do and very nice ladies to boot.

Top marks to Damion for his choice of wedding attire, I absolutely loved his suit and the matching floral shirt & pink tie! My favourites from the day are below…

Mick Cookson - Lovely work again Ian – mostly shot on that 50mm of yours I guess?

Cheers

admin - Thank you Mick. No, mostly on the 24-70mm. I did take the 50mm out for the dance shots, but the rest was on the lovely sharp nikkor superzoom!October 14, 2011 – 4:04 pm

All Saints Turvey, Bedfordshire – Alex & Alice

Croissants and Marmalade were on the morning menu for Alice’s bridal preparations at her parents home in the picturesque village of Turvey in Bedfordshire – the first of my September weddings. I’ve been witness to some hectic and stressful preparations in the past, but the morning was totally chilled, stress-free and incredibly well organised – a testament to the wonderful organisational skills of Alice’s mum Jacqui who had absolutely everything covered.

The ceremony was held in the village at All Saints Church, one of the finest and oldest churches in the Diocese of St. Albans. After the ceremony, the congregation then walked up to Turvey House for the marquee reception.

“Wow! The photo’s are amazing – we’ve looked over them so many times over the weekend and each time one of us will say, oooh I love that one, and that one, and that one…!!! Thank you so much.” – Alice & Alex.

The Hospitium, York – Paul & Harriet

Our family holiday was spent in Yorkshire this August, we took the girls up to a working arable farm called fourth farm just outside of Bridlington complete with beautiful converted barns and the friendliest host by the name of Gary, well recommended! After our great week, we headed inland to one of my favourite places in the UK, the wonderful city of York to prepare for the wedding of Paul & Harriet at The Hospitium.

The day’s incredibly calm & laid back preparations started at the majestic Royal York Hotel and afterwards I made the short journey on foot over the bridge over the river Ouse to the Hospitium. The Hospitium is a picturesque 14th Century listed building located in the middle of York’s Museum Gardens, and is one of York’s oldest half-timbered buildings. Built as a guest house for a nearby Abbey, which is now in ruins, it’s used today for exhibitions, conferences, wedding receptions and seminars.

Paul hired a Ferrari to drive himself to the wedding and – not being a petrol head – I apologise for not knowing which model it was, nevertheless it was gorgeous & red… a typical Ferrari! The ceremony was then conducted in two parts; a civil ceremony and then a blessing by a vicar who I’d love to work with every week because he was cool, funny and had no rules or restrictions when it came to photographing the event. After the legalities, Paul & Harriet then returned the car to the hotel and walked back through York to the Hospitium receiving smiles & warm wishes from tourists and locals alike.

A lovely day, with a lovely couple, warm & friendly guests and some really emotive moments during both ceremonies, the speeches and the partying afterwards! My faves from the day are below…

Mick Cookson - Another stunning set Ian….beautiful work.

Cheers
