Alison House, Matlock, Derbyshire – Tim & Abigail

Sorry for the delay in posting this St. Mary’s Church, Cromford & Alison House, Matlock wedding. As is quite common for wedding photographers, the autumn months are manically busy and are spent putting the finishing touches to a hectic summer season’s work by designing & assembling albums, creating slideshows, sorting print orders & getting caught up on admin etc. Each wedding involves around 40 hours worth of work, including the time spent documenting the day so inevitably things get stuck in a bottle neck come September, October & November…

So… it is with great pleasure that I blog the wonderful Autumn wedding of Abigail & Tim. Abi & Tim were at the wedding of Paul & Nicole in Didsbury, Manchester earlier in the year and I documented that wedding. Abi contacted me a few months after that wedding to say how she was blown away by the images of Nicole & Paul’s day and wanted me to shoot their wedding day too. Abi is a real character, full of life and energy and a lovely lady to boot so I couldn’t wait for their special day to arrive… and what a day!

October 1st was just unbelievably hot… about 28 degrees and the weather totally fell in line with the Asian/Thai theme for the wedding (Tim proposed to Abi on a holiday in Asia), hence the theme for the day. Massive kudos goes out to Abi for the way she planned the little details for her day, but no surprise as she has an events planning background. She’d be a great wedding planner! As usual, a selection of my faves to tell a mini-story of the day are below…

Mick Cookson - Possibly my favourite 2011 wedding shoot of yours, this one Ian. Beautiful work. Love that TV shot!

Cheers

Mary Magdalene Newark and Langar Hall – George & Charlotte

At the end of a long avenue of lime trees you will find Langar Hall. This charming small country house hotel and restaurant in the Vale of Belvoir, is situated just 12 miles South East of Nottingham and provides a uniquely English experience. Surrounded by gardens and parkland, Langar Hall is a truly original, deliciously stylish and quietly eccentric country house which has gently evolved into a hotel and restaurant that enjoys a reputation for exceptional hospitality, efficient service, comfortable bedrooms, good food and an interesting wine list. The hall was the venue for the post wedding celebrations of George and Charlotte who married in mid September at the Church of Mary Magdalene just a short drive away in the picturesque market town of Newark.

My personal favourite from the day is the shot of George (holding the umbrella), and the boys walking through the streets of Newark towards the church. Notice the clever framing of the boys and the two shop signs above them. A result of quick reactions, thinking out of the box and anticipation. The image is the first on row three of the thumbnails below. Favourites from the day to tell a mini story are below. Click on the larger image to open up a slideshow.

Mick Cookson - Hi Ian….

…yet again another brilliant set. Bet the clients are blown away with these. I have to say I love that trampoline shot – so random but brilliantly timed.

Nice one

Beaumanor Hall, Leicestershire – Damion & Philippa

An intimate and emotive September wedding at local Beaumanor Hall in Woodhouse, Leicestershire. Getting a little nip on the finger from the mother Jack Russell (left hand of pic) during bridal prep at the guesthouse where Phillipa was getting ready had no detrimental effect on my ability to document their day – one tip though, never try to stroke a yapping Jack Russell, no matter how friendly they look!

Bridal prep was made all the more enjoyable due to the wonderful company of Phillipa, her sister and two daughters, and make up artist Rochelle O’Brien and hair stylist Melanie Rhodes who I have worked with before on several occasions. It was great to team up with them again as they really are extremely talented at what they do and very nice ladies to boot.

Top marks to Damion for his choice of wedding attire, I absolutely loved his suit and the matching floral shirt & pink tie! My favourites from the day are below…

Mick Cookson - Lovely work again Ian – mostly shot on that 50mm of yours I guess?

Cheers

admin - Thank you Mick. No, mostly on the 24-70mm. I did take the 50mm out for the dance shots, but the rest was on the lovely sharp nikkor superzoom!October 14, 2011 – 4:04 pm
