Ian Bursill Photography bio picture

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my blog site.

I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Loughborough, Leicestershire and a fully active member of the international organisation the WPJA - Wedding Photojournalist Association. I shoot weddings in a documentary style with no intervention or intrusion (apart from a few formals if requested) enabling my clients and their guests to get on enjoy their day without worrying about the photography taking over.

I shoot digitally, working with professional Nikon D3 cameras and lenses. 99% of my images are captured without the use of a flash, preferring to utilise the beauty of natural light. This also enables me to remain very unobtrusive at weddings.

Matthew & Alison, St Winifreds Shepshed & Burleigh Court Loughborough

Saturday 19th July saw me cover a local wedding at St Winifreds in nearby Shepshed. I seem to have been really lucky so far with relaxed, informal vicars & priests who are happy for me to shoot throughout the ceremony with no restrictions as long as I’m unobtrusive and discreet (which of course I am) and do not use flash (I don’t).

It’s an absolute pleasure when this happens rather than being banned to the back of the church or asked not to shoot through the ceremony, yet guests happily fire away from their seats willy nilly with their cameras & flash. Watch this space now, I’ve given myself the jinx and my next officiant will ban me from taking any shots!

If you’re reading this and plan to get married, a good bit of advice is to talk through any restrictions with the venue and officials before deciding to book – unless of course you are happy to have pictures of your back from 50 yards down an aisle!

A great couple to work with & loads of fun on the day. I’d like to wish Matthew & Alison well for their future together. The reception was held at Burleigh Court, Loughborough.

yogavenger - As usual more gorgeous wedding photos. You really have got some special moments captured in just these few samples. I especially love the shots that expose beautifully any dramatic lighting – like the chapel shot with the lady in the round hat and the way her hat is illuminated, as well as the groom's shoulder. Truly lovely. Well done!August 2, 2008 - 6:16 pm
