First job of the New Year on Saturday 3rd Jan saw me at my favourite local venue again – Prestwold Hall – for the Golden Wedding celebration of John & Margaret. It was an interesting change covering the celebrations of a couple who have now been married for 50 years rather than a couple who are just starting out on the journey of marriage. John commissioned me to shoot in my normal photojournalistic style as he didn’t want any intrusion into their guests’ enjoyment. He also commissioned a fantastic caricature artist Mick Wright to sketch a selection of people and Harpist Eleanor Turner played harp and was simply incredible – both of these people are highly recommended by me. The speeches were fantastic, lots of reminiscing and funny tales, some lovely stories. Surprise of the day was a book full of old photos collected up by all of the guests and laid out in a huge storybook album, a great touch.
