John & Rachael, St Gabriels Walsall & Moor Hall Hotel

August 9th saw me make the short trip across from the ‘East Midlands’ to Walsall in the ‘West Midlands’ to cover the wedding day of John & Rachael. The drizzling rain that fell for most of the day didn’t put the dampers on a wonderful day. We even had a break in the weather when the sun finally cam out at an opportune time to enable me to get in a group shot outside the reception venue which was Moor Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield. A few shots below to tell the story of the day…

These cowboys think they designed this site!

I was browsing my web site statistics on Google Analytics yesterday (Thursday) when I noticed that I had 4 referrals from www.ukpluswebdesign.org.uk (also trading as www.designmediauk.com) – I thought this looked strange so took a look at the site and there on the front page is the following…

So, all of sudden, the web site that I designed & constructed myself over 2 months earlier this year, has actually been designed by these people all along – how strange! Needless to say, I sent an email telling them in no uncertain terms that if they did not remove this claim from their websites, that I would have no choice but to take legal action against them. The attitude of the person I spoke to was arrogant, cocky & downright rude.

The references to bursill.com were taken down today (Friday) and I have raised this issue with Trading Standards in Derby. If you are looking to have a web site built, think twice about approaching this disreputable bunch of rogue traders.

Jamie & Lucy, St Marys Catholic Church, Loughborough

How many of us could have our wedding reception in our back gardens? OK, maybe we all could to some extent, so maybe I’ll rephrase the question. How many of us could fit a huge marquee in our back garden, fit in 120 odd guests, a DJ and a band and still have a stack of room left over? Jamie & Lucy could and they did with great style and success on the 26th of July here in Loughborough and only 2 minute’s walk from my house – the most local wedding I’ve ever covered!

The ceremony was held at St Mary’s in Loughborough, a beautiful church on Ashby Road in the town. Then onto the reception, with some beautiful touches. The most striking being the ornate decorations above each table in the marquee and the amazing tree in the garden which was bedecked with framed pictures of guests at their own weddings – a really nice touch!

A great – and very emotional – set of speeches and amazing first dance rounded off my coverage on a great day. Thanks to Jamie & Lucy for allowing me the honour of covering their wedding. Below are just 8 images carefully selected to tell the story of the day.
